Computers, bikes and things I’d like to remember.

Yay for LCA2007!

Finally, the waiting and wondering is over. Wh00t! They picked me!

Ahem. What I mean to say is, “This is great, I can’t wait to speak at LCA in January.”

When the LCA call for papers opened, I commenced the laborious process of getting permission from work to speak about the cool stuff we do. That involved cajoling, begging, lobbying and writing a proposal for approval by our executive. After several weeks I cleared those hurdles and whipped up a brief submission for the LCA papers committee. Then I waited. And waited. And the deadline was extended. And I waited.

In the last few days, blog entries from the papers crew gave me every reason to believe that I wouldn’t make the cut. Especially Rusty’s. Check em out:

Was my submission too brief? Not technical enough? Not an interesting subject? How could I tell?

Then this afternoon the email came through from the LCA team to tell me I am one of the 20% chosen for the gig. If I was excited about LCA before, I’m double excited now. Roll on January!
